What’s at Stake?
A total of 52 swimmers (26 men and 26 women) can qualify for the U.S. Olympic team from these trials. This year, 1,007 swimmers are competing for a spot. There are 35 swimming events in total, including 17 men’s events, 17 women’s events, and one mixed event. Some events are relays, where multiple swimmers from a team compete together, and many swimmers will compete in multiple events.
