Brennan emphasised that Trump lacked understanding of crucial matters, like U.S. relationships with allies and NATO. He also expressed worry about Trump’s stance on supporting Ukraine against Russia.
According to Brennan, Trump’s actions, such as withholding intelligence aid to Ukraine or cutting off financial and military assistance, could embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin to expand his influence in Europe.
Brennan, who served under President Obama, has been a vocal critic of Trump. He has spoken out against Trump’s behaviour, calling it dishonest and damaging to democratic principles. Despite leaving his post, Brennan remains outspoken about his concerns regarding Trump’s leadership.
