Secret Service’s Statement
The Secret Service has released a statement indicating that local law enforcement was responsible for securing the surrounding properties, including the rooftop from which Crooks allegedly fired. According to the statement, local authorities failed to adequately patrol and secure these areas, leading to the breach that allowed the shooter to position himself.
“We were tasked with securing the immediate vicinity of the rally, while local law enforcement was responsible for the surrounding properties,” a Secret Service spokesperson said. “Unfortunately, the lack of thorough surveillance and security on these properties allowed the shooter to access an elevated position, posing a significant threat.”
Local law enforcement has yet to respond officially to the Secret Service’s allegations. However, reports indicate that there were concerns about the level of security at the event, with some officers reportedly noticing suspicious activity but unable to intervene effectively.
