Scooter Braun Announces Retirement from Music Management: Future Plans and Reflections

Scooter Braun Announces Retirement : On Monday, June 17, Scooter Braun, a prominent figure in the music industry, officially announced his retirement from the management side of his career. Known for his influential role in managing top-tier artists and his high-profile disputes, Braun shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram, marking the end of his 23-year journey as a music manager.

Braun’s Statement and Reflections

In his Instagram post, Braun reflected on his career, starting from when he was just 19 years old. “23 years. That’s how long I have been a music manager,” Braun began. He went on to say, “After 23 years, this chapter as a music manager has come to an end.”

He recounted his experience, noting, “I was really just 19 years old when I started. So for my entire adult life I played the role of an artist manager on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And for 20 years I loved it. It’s all I had known.” Braun cited his desire to focus more on his family as a key reason for his decision to step back from management.

Future Endeavors

Braun is not leaving the music industry entirely. He announced his new role as a board member and CEO of Hybe America, working alongside Chairman Bang. “In this next chapter I have been honored to join as a board member of Hybe and serve as the CEO of Hybe America. My brilliant partner these past 3 years, Chairman Bang, has a vision I truly believe in. But even beyond that he has become a true friend who understands where I must be in my life these days. And that is a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more,” Braun stated.

Continuing Influence in the Industry

Despite his retirement from management, Braun will remain influential in the music industry. He mentioned the addition of Quality Control (QC) to Hybe America and their existing business at Big Machine, highlighting ongoing projects with prominent artists like Jungkook, BTS members, NewJeans, Tomorrow X Together, LE SSERAFIM, SEVENTEEN, ILLIT, The Scarlet Opera, and Ava Max.

Braun’s Legacy

Braun’s career as a music manager began with artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, establishing him as a significant figure in the industry. He is remembered for organizing a major charity concert featuring Grande, Coldplay, Bieber, Mac Miller, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus in response to the 2017 terrorist bombing at Grande’s concert, which claimed 22 lives.

However, Braun’s career has not been without controversy. In 2018, he acquired the rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums after purchasing Big Machine Record Group, leading to a highly publicized feud with Swift. Despite the controversies, Braun addressed several of these artists in his social media statement, acknowledging the complex nature of his career.

Scooter Braun’s retirement from music management marks the end of an era in the music industry. As he transitions to his new role at Hybe America, his influence and legacy will undoubtedly continue to shape the industry. His focus on family and new professional challenges highlights a new chapter for Braun, one where he steps back from the frontline of artist management but remains a key player in the music world.
