KANSAS CITY, Missouri – In a chilling case that has shocked the community, Tim Haslett, a man suspected of hunting and torturing sex workers, has been charged with a slew of heinous crimes, including murder, rape, kidnapping, and sodomy. Authorities believe the disturbing accusations may only scratch the surface of his brutal activities.
On Tuesday, Haslett was formally charged with the murder of Jaynie Crosdale, whose decomposed body was discovered in a blue barrel in the Missouri River last year. Police believe there may be more victims linked to this gruesome case.
Survivor’s Harrowing Escape
The investigation gained momentum when a survivor managed to escape from Haslett’s home in Excelsior Springs, a suburb of Kansas City. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, the survivor described being tortured with electric currents and forced to gratify Haslett sexually in exchange for food. She was one of at least two women who endured unimaginable suffering at his hands.
After escaping, the survivor ran through the neighborhood with a locked metal collar around her neck and a ball gag in her mouth until a good Samaritan took her in and called 911. The police response uncovered a scene straight out of a horror movie.
The House of Horrors
Upon entering Haslett’s basement, officers discovered a dungeon equipped with red lights, paddles, chains, cameras, and various instruments of torture. The affidavit detailed the presence of electronic gadgets, large blue barrels, women’s clothes, and a loaded gun hidden in the couch.
Excelsior Springs Police Chief Greg Dull described the basement as fortified with concrete exterior walls, interior walls of sheet rock and plywood, and a solid wood door reinforced with layers of plywood and magnetic locks, making escape nearly impossible. “This wasn’t his first rodeo,” Dull remarked, indicating the meticulous and premeditated nature of Haslett’s setup.
Connection to Jaynie Crosdale
Crosdale’s death was linked to Haslett through evidence found on his electronic devices during a search of his home. Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson revealed that images of Crosdale in Haslett’s basement were discovered on his phone, along with an SD card containing additional incriminating evidence. Haslett had allegedly boasted to the surviving victim about taking another life.
Police have asked the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The brutality of Haslett’s alleged crimes serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that still lurk in society.
