Ever since Vice President Kamala Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the presumed nominee for the 2024 Presidential Election, there has been a different energy around the race for the White House.
Kamala Harris’ candidacy has sparked a surge in enthusiasm, as evidenced by a rapid increase in fundraising and polling numbers. Polls show her much closer to Republican nominee Donald Trump than Biden was, signaling a competitive race ahead.
One notable aspect of Harris’ campaign momentum is a series of Zoom calls aimed at rallying support and fundraising. These calls have gone viral due to the participation of various celebrities and the significant donations they have attracted.
The “White Dudes for Harris” Event
On Monday night, a “White Dudes for Harris” call featured an array of politicians and celebrities. Notable participants included Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, actors Jeff Bridges, Josh Gad, and Mark Hamill, among others.
The Joe Burrow Rumor
Amidst the excitement, tweets began circulating that Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow was also on the call, showing his support for Harris. The X account Kamala’s Wins, with over 500,000 followers, tweeted about Burrow’s appearance, which garnered over 3 million views.
However, there was a problem: Joe Burrow was not on the “White Dudes for Harris” call. This was confirmed by the Cincinnati Bengals after Awful Announcing reached out to the team on Tuesday morning. Despite the lack of evidence or video of Burrow’s presence, the rumor spread across social media. Another post claimed that Lions QB Jared Goff and Giants QB Daniel Jones were also on the call, which has almost 1 million views, but like Burrow, there’s no evidence that these quarterbacks were present either.
