Apple Knows How To Attract Buyers

– Marketing: Apple portrays its products (Apple iPhones) in India in a very unique way. They always showcase their products larger than life, as a part of your body or dress which you cannot neglect. While other companies also do the same, being an American brand gives Apple and its products an advantage.

– Pricing: Apple is now understanding the Indian mindset. They are decreasing their product prices in India to a bracket that is still expensive but now falls under the price tag that people think they can afford by looking at previous prices.

– Luxury: Apple is an American brand and a globally well-known company, so it’s obvious it attracts words like luxury or exclusive. Also many people relate with iPhone as their American Dreams , which is an another topic in itself .

– Quality: For Apple, quality is everything. Their products are of high quality, with the use of the best display, speakers, cameras, water resistance, etc. However, if they get damaged, the repair costs are also extraordinary.

– Camera and Videography: The main reason for the boom of Apple iPhones is their camera and videography capabilities. iPhones are capable of capturing every image beautifully. People love them, and although they have competitors, most cannot match the quality of natural photography and videography of iPhones. When it comes to videography, there is currently no serious competitor.

– Celebrities Favourites: Mainly, Apple products are used by all celebrities, whether they are highly known or not. This has created a buzz around Apple products being favoured by celebrities.

– Apple Ecosystem: With years of research and development, Apple products connect with each other seamlessly. Your Apple iPhone, MacBook, iPad, and Apple Watch connect with each other in such a way that it gives people the ease of using only Apple products.

All the above reasons are valid, but still, they may not be the best reasons for buying such expensive products, especially phones. So why do people still prefer to buy them?

– EMIs: Nowadays in India, many people are choosing the EMI option to buy iPhones. They don’t need to pay the total amount upfront; they just need to pay some 10-20% of the price and make monthly instalments for the rest of the amount.

– Online Offers/Festive Sales: Indians usually buy new phones during the festive season, as companies reduce their prices, and Apple also participates. Sometimes, Apple offers crazy discounts for a limited time period or limited stock. Even though it is still expensive, majority Indians hope to buy an iPhone. However, the prices may change or increase within minutes, but once people make up their minds, they tend to make the purchase.

Main Reason

The main reason is that Apple iPhone and products have always been expensive since their inception, branding themselves as a luxury, expensive brand. People know that all their competitors are mainly Android products, which brand or market themselves as something affordable for everyone.

However, nowadays, even Android products are becoming more expensive day by day. Every Android product is becoming more expensive. In 2024 , a new good budget phones with basic good features now start from ₹22,000-₹25,000(264-300 US dollar). These are just starting prices, and Android companies are launching smartphones in the bracket of not-so-affordable ranges, with prices ranging from ₹30,000 – ₹60,000(360 – 720 US dollar). Now, ₹10,000 – ₹20,000 (120 – 240 US dollar) is not a category for a good feature smartphone in Android. The price range of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 (360 – 480 US dollar) is categorised as a good budget smartphone.

A Buyer Mindset

So, people don’t want to spend that much money on an Android smartphone. Their mindset also tends towards luxury when it comes to such hefty price tags. Eventually, they stretch their budget, even if it costs them ₹10,000 – ₹15,000 (120 – 180 US dollar) more; they just develop their mindset to buy iPhones. Also, Apple iPhone and products are only launched once a year, with normally the same design as the previous one, maintaining their exclusivity.

People can recognise an Apple iPhone just from the back of the design, even if it is five years old. However, every month, other companies launch new Android phones, which somehow lowers their exclusivity. Even if they launch the successor of their high-end phone , people still prefer to go with iPhones. Also, when people want to buy an iPhone, they have only 2-3 options to choose from, whereas when it comes to Android phones, there are numerous options with different features, making the decision more complicated.
