At the Libertarian Party National Convention, Donald Trump faced a tough crowd. He got booed and insulted, which isn’t what he’s used to at his rallies. Libertarians, who like small government and freedom, aren’t big fans of Trump. He joked about being a Libertarian because of his legal troubles. When he insulted President Biden, some people yelled back at him.
Even though Trump tried to be friendly, some in the crowd didn’t like him. They think he just wants attention every four years. Trump promised to help a guy in jail, which made some people happy. They want the guy, Ross Ulbricht, to be released. But even with promises, some people still didn’t like Trump.
Before Trump arrived, there was drama about where his supporters could sit. They had to move so others could hear Trump’s speech. Even after that, some were still mad about Trump being there. They think he doesn’t fit in with the Libertarian party.
Trump’s team says he’s trying to win over new supporters, even in places where most people don’t like him. But not everyone is convinced.
At the convention, Trump’s rival, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also spoke. Trump used to like Kennedy, but now he’s saying bad things about him. He thinks voting for Kennedy is a waste.
Kennedy talked about personal freedom during the pandemic. He said both Trump and Biden did things that hurt personal freedom. Biden’s team is trying to ignore Kennedy’s candidacy and focus on other Kennedys who support Biden.
A spokesperson for Biden criticized Trump and other Republicans for not supporting abortion rights and limiting freedom. They said this weekend’s convention shows how Trump’s party isn’t really about freedom.
So, Trump went to a Libertarian convention, but not everyone there liked him. He tried to win them over, but it didn’t work for everyone. There was drama over seating, and Trump’s rival also spoke. Biden’s team is watching closely, hoping to keep their supporters.
